This two-night Watch Leader and Youth Mentor training course is open to anyone who has been recommended for a Watch Assistants, Trainee Watch Leader or Youth Mentor role.
This is also an opportunity for existing members of Tall Ships Youth Trust’s (TSYT) volunteer crew to refresh their skills. New Watch Leaders will benefit from meeting with other volunteers and learning more about this rewarding and important role.
This is an intensive course, where you’ll sail the Solent on board one of our Challenger yachts, while covering both technical training and youth development work, including communication, teamwork and safeguarding.
The weekend will be a combination of time afloat in the Solent and time alongside completing training and learning skills. As an intensive training weekend, you will have early starts and busy days. While every effort will be made to deliver the above voyage content, the schedule is subject to change based on weather and crew ability.
By the end, you’ll be fully equipped with the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge to take the next steps on your volunteering journey with Tall Ships Youth Trust.
Meals on board are provided, including dinner on the Friday evening, as are a plentiful supply of hot and cold drinks and snacks throughout.
