Voyage highlights
This two-night Watch Leader and Youth Mentor training course is open to anyone aged 16-25 who has been recommended to sail as a Trainee Watch Leader with Tall Ships Youth Trust.
This is also an opportunity for experienced Watch Leaders or AWLs to refresh their skills. New crew members will benefit from meeting with other volunteers and finding out more about the rewarding and important role they can play on board our voyages.
This is an intensive course, sailing in the Firth of Clyde onboard one of our Challenger yachts, whilst covering both technical training and youth development work.
Depending on the weather, we’ll aim to have one full sailing day and a day alongside for youthwork activities and safety drills.
Whilst every effort will be made to deliver the above voyage content, sometimes due to weather and crew’s ability, the content may need to change.
By the end, you’ll be fully equipped with the necessary skills, confidence and knowledge to take on this vital role.
Meals on board are provided, including dinner on the Friday evening, as are a plentiful supply of hot and cold drinks and snacks.
