Voyage highlights

Experience sailing south through the Irish Sea and then on to the Cornish and Jurassic coasts
Build miles and learn the fundamentals of sailing onboard a 72ft Challenger!
Previous sailing experience is preferred but not essential

Join us on this seven-day voyage from Liverpool’s Albert Dock to Gunwharf Quays Marina in Portsmouth.

You’ll meet with like-minded individuals – aged from 18 – 80 and learn the fundamentals of sailing while creating lifelong memories and having fun!

This voyage will cover approximately 500 nautical miles and will prove rewarding for those who are physically fit, resilient and enjoy a challenge!

Your participation in this sailing adventure will help bolster our life-changing youth development work. Proceeds from our adult voyages support our charity’s vital youth work with young people aged 12-25.

Places you'll visit

The journey from Liverpool will take you south through the Irish Sea, round Land’s End and east down the English Channel.

Possible stopovers include Falmouth, Weymouth or Poole, or Cowes or Yarmouth, on the Isle of Wight.

Be sure to pack your camera for your journey south through the Irish Sea and past the stunning Cornish coast, as you may spot dolphins, seals and fin whales.

On a clear day, you could also spot several picturesque lighthouses, including Eddystone in Cornwall, the first one built in 1698, was built of wood and was the first offshore lighthouse in the world.

Takeaways from your sailing adventure

New skills. Increased confidence. New friendships. Memories.

Throughout the week, you’ll experience steering a yachtnight sailing, sail handling, ropework as well as learning how to keep safe onboard.

We divide the crew into two teams (watches) – traditionally, known as Port and Starboard. In your watches, you’ll take it in turns to be involved in all aspects of sailing the Challenger from looking after her to cooking and cleaning.

You’ll also experience plenty of offshore sailing and ‘out of sight of land’ — a great opportunity to escape from it all and to build your confidence as a sailor.

Duke of Edinburgh

All our voyages of four nights or more qualify for the DofE Gold Residential award. Please let our Reservations Team know before sailing if you want to use the voyage for this.
