Voyage highlights

Start your Christmas break in style sailing an iconic 72ft Challenger!
Achieve your RYA Start Yachting qualification
Make new friends and create lifelong memories
No sailing experience necessary

Treat your 12-15-year-olds to an early Christmas present this year and give yourself the gift of relaxation, or time, to finish off your last-minute festive shopping. Sound good?

Then book your child on a four-night festive adventure sailing along the south coast with Tall Ships Youth Trust.

As a TSYT ‘Voyage of Exploration’ crew members do not require any prior experience of sailing. The voyage will enable them to explore the ocean environment while learning new skills, developing confidence and self-esteem, and increasing social and communication skills.

They can also achieve their RYA Start Yachting certificate, which will make a great addition to their personal record of achievement.

In addition, they will enjoy celebrating all things festive with the opportunity to bake and eat traditional treats!

Places you'll visit

You’ll sail through the Solent and then along the stunning south coast. Likely stopovers include CowesLymington, Poole and Weymouth.

Takeaways from your sailing adventure

New skills. Increased confidence. New friendships. Memories.

Most of the sailing will take place during the day but if conditions permit, you’ll also get to do some night sailing.

We divide the crew into two teams (watches) – traditionally, known as Port watch and Starboard watch. In your watches, you’ll take it in turns to be involved in all aspects of sailing our Challenger from deck work tocooking and cleaning.

Each crew member will receive a personal assessment covering their leadership, teamwork and communicationskills.

You may get the chance to complete the RYA Start Yachting course while on board.

The cost of your RYA Start Yachting certificate is included in the price.

RYA logbooks are available for purchase on board at a cost of £6 (Skippers are only able to take cash for this).

Further information

The Skipper will determine the final route depending on weather and other variables.

If you share our values and are keen to do more, you may be able to support our mission further by joining the TSYT Volunteer Crew.

Your Skipper can recommend you for our Watch Leader training programme, if they feel you have the skills and attributes that we’re looking for.

Meals onboard are included.
