Join us for an exciting six-day voyage as we sail from Ipswich to the vibrant waterfront city of Portsmouth, navigating the English Channel aboard our 72ft Challenger yacht.

A voyage of Exploration is starting phase of our innovative three-voyage journey, and it is designed for young adventurers eager to dive into sailing, whether you’re a complete beginner or have some experience!

This is your chance to enhance your communication skills, grow your self-esteem, and immerse yourself in a sea of excitement and camaraderie. On this voyage, you get to explore the ocean, learn essential sailing skills, and build your confidence with a crew of passionate peers.

Plus, you can complete the DofE Gold residential and earn your RYA Start Yachting certificate— the first step on your sailing qualifications journey!

Potential stops along the way

After departing Ipswich, potential stops along the way include Dover and Ramsgate on the southeast coast.

As you begin your journey west, along the south coast, there may be the opportunity to cross the Channel. You would need to present a valid passport for this. If you don’t have a passport, please get in touch before booking.

Before arriving in Portsmouth, you’ll sail into the Solent with potential for port stops or anchoring.

Takeaways from your sailing adventure

Positive Relationships. Newfound confidence. Lasting memories.

Throughout the week, you’ll experience steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework—all while learning essential safety practices onboard.

On board, the crew will be split into two watches— traditionally, known as Port and Starboard. In your watches, you’ll take turns to be involved in all aspects of sailing the Challenger from deck duties and maintenance to cooking and cleaning, fostering a sense of responsibility and teamwork.

At the end of the voyage, each crew member will receive a personal assessment covering their leadership, teamwork and communication skills— a great addition to your CV.
