UPDATE — COVID-19 — TALL SHIPS YOUTH TRUST OPERATIONAL STATEMENT
UPDATE: 19/05/2021
Young people hardest hit by the Covid pandemic will soon benefit from the reopening of Tall Ships Youth Trust’s residential voyages.
We’re delighted to announce we can resume residential sailing with pre-existing school-group bubbles from today, following approval by our Trustees.
The Trustees’ decision follows the latest set of Government guidance and is in line with the lifting of restrictions under step three of the Covid-19 roadmap out of lockdown.
Residential voyages can start again in principle — providing no further restrictions are put in place between now and step four — not before Monday 21st June, which is the final step within the current roadmap out of lockdown.
Since 12th April, Tall Ships Youth Trust has been running day sails only for groups.
The safety of the young people who sail with us will always be our priority. We have undertaken thorough risk assessments and put in place testing and cleaning protocols to ensure our crew and vessels are Covid-safe.
For the last 12 months, Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) has been part of the Government’s ‘School Travel Sector Stakeholder Group’ working to restart the sector as soon as possible.
In March 2021, TSYT alongside famous authors, explorers and Olympians signed an open letter to the Government demanding the reopening of residential outdoor education.
The past year has been extremely challenging for us all. The head office team and Trustees have had to make decisive and prudent measures to reduce our cost base and sustain our income. Tall Ships Youth Trust could not have done this without the incredible loyalty and financial backing of the charity’s supporters in these extreme circumstances.
Thanks to your unwavering support we’re delighted that we can once again do what we do best — providing young people with life-changing adventures at sea that enable them to ‘sea beyond their horizon’.
