I grew up around different types of boats and have been sailing ever since I was 10! I got involved with Tall Ships Youth Trust (TSYT) when I was a teenager and after my first voyage, I was asked to return as a volunteer Watch Leader.
I then took a year out before I went to university and in that year, I took part in the Clipper Round the World Race. Having experienced this, I knew that a career in sailing was for me.
I continued to volunteer with Tall Ships Youth Trust and in 2019, I was awarded bursary funding from the Association of Sail Training Organisations (ASTO) and Trinity House, which enabled me to gain RYA Qualifications and work my way through the ranks to become a freelance Mate, and now a Skipper!
My work is now split between being a Mate and a Skipper on TSYT’s four Challenger yachts and I love it so much! Once you’ve got the sailing bug, you really can’t get rid of it. Each voyage I take part in is unique, from the people onboard to the places we go and every single one is a different adventure to look forward to!
I’m very grateful to TSYT for supporting me over the years and allowing me to turn my passion for sailing into a career at sea!
