Please tell us a bit about yourself
I’ve been working on the water commercially since 2013. I started of working in the Sporade islands in Greece as a flotilla skipper with the worlds leading flotilla company.
After 12 months I then moved to one of our biggest competitors in the Ionian – well in the Ionian I delivered day skipper/competent crew/ICC courses to people that wanted to learn how to sail. After this I spent 12 months working closely with other instructors to deliver the RYA syllabus to a high standard to people in the Ionian islands.
I’ve done many deliveries of new yachts back to the UK and also volunteered on the famous Earl of Pembroke which was in the new Alice in Wonderland film.
When I’m not sailing my time is mainly spent with my daughter but when I get the opportunity I kite surf in north Wales – I’m never to far away from water! When I fancy turning things up a notch I spend weekend racing superbikes around infamous race tracks around the UK.
Please tell us a bit about your role at Tall Ships Youth Trust
I started Tall Ships youth trust as a first mate – I mainly work with youth groups from all walks of life. In this role I was quickly able to further develop my skills to progress to skipper in 14 months. I now deliver the TSYT experience to all as skipper or mate.
What has been your most memorable moment at Tall Ships Youth Trust?
When I first started with Tall Ships Youth Trust – it was the immediate sense of family and what we delivered as a team was truly amazing. I remember thinking – this is my time to give something back.
