Tall Ships Cat – Moat School
Day One
The first day we sail to Cowes from Portsmouth harbour. It took over 2 hours. We were doing 5.6km per hour. There were lots of small boats that we saw. There were amazing views on the journey. Some of which was the coast. We can’t express how much we enjoyed this
The day started great at Cowes, we had to do all the breakfast so we had to lay everything out and prepare the toast and cereals. We then got to carry the shopping and then we unloaded it all. Then suddenly, we left Cowes, and we set sail.
We collected in all the fenders and put them on a trampoline like net. Then we hoisted the sails, it was a bit difficult at first and the wind did not help but we all got used to it quite quickly. After we put the sails up we sailed to Alum Chine Bay where we dropped the anchor and stopped for lunch.
We had pastie and beans for lunch, which was okay but could’ve been better. One of the groups then did the washing up. We were all told about the man over board protocol, so we can be ready anytime if someone’s overboard. We have to save them quickly as the water is very cold (even if they stole your sweets).
We went to Yarmouth and moored up about 16.11 and took a walk around Yarmouth. We looked around the local woods and we found a swing and also got ice cream. We then went back to the boat and cooked curry which was good and we went to the bathrooms on shore to wash ourselves. We then finished off the night with a group quiz.
