Tall Ships Cat – Half Term South Coast Adventure

By Tall Ships - October 24th, 2018 | Posted in Voyager blogs No comments

Day One

Our Tall Ships journey started in Gunwharf Quays in Portsmouth. The first thing we did was meet our shipmates and explore the catamaran which allowed us to settle in more easily. Shortly after, we set off across the Solent, helping with all sorts of jobs including putting the sails up and tying fenders. This helped us learn new knots, for example the OXO knot, as well as different parts of the ship.

In the late afternoon we arrived at our destination of Cowes, a picturesque town with a lovely centre. Here we docked, played some games and had time to wash and look at the sights. Once returning we cooked food, with all shipmates chipping in to create spaghetti which was delicious.

After waking up in the morning we got back to our sailing experience; we then hopped on the dinghy as a reward for our morning of hard (yet fun) work. We travelled over to a beautiful coast on the Isle of Wight and had a great time swimming and messing about before going to Yarmouth to end off the day.
