Voyage highlights

Get a taste of adventure and put a Challenger yacht to the test on this four-night residential trip.

This South Coast Adventure is an ideal starter voyage and will provide you with the perfect introduction to sail training.

You'll learn the fundamental aspects of sailing and get hands-on experience of sail handling, safety onboard, rope work, engine checks and even steering the boat. For those looking to achieve their RYA Start Yachting qualification you can do this as part of your voyage experience.*

You could have the opportunity to sail along the Jurassic Coast to Poole, Weymouth and Portland or across the Solent to Cowes and Yarmouth.

On the first day, our crew will meet you and take you to your Challenger for the week. They'll then give you a tour and show you your bunk where you'll sleep, the galley where you'll prepare food and importantly, the saloon where you'll eat. After a safety briefing your adventure will begin.

You'll be involved in all aspects of sailing the yacht from looking after the boat to cooking and cleaning. We encourage you to get stuck in as much as possible as often our Skippers will recommend young people who shine during the trip to come back as a volunteer Watch Assistant or Watch Leader for future Tall Ships Youth Trust voyages.

After a day at sea, evenings may be spent covering theory, playing games, relaxing, socialising and possibly night sailing. You'll also get the opportunity to go ashore at some ports as a crew (the young people will always be accompanied by an adult).

While every effort will be made to deliver the above voyage content sometimes, due to weather and crew’s ability, the content may need to change. Please see below for our full Conditions of Booking.

*RYA certificates and logbooks can be purchased onboard as follows: certificates £4, logbooks £6.
