Funding towards youth voyages available now!
To celebrate Tall Ships Youth Trust’s 65th anniversary, we’re promoting our bursary programme to provide even more young people with an opportunity to turn their lives around on one of our five-day youth development voyages.
The bursary programme is open to schools, youth groups and individuals, and offers a significant reduction on the full price of the voyage.
Chas Cowell, Youth Development and Volunteer Manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to step out of their normal environment and comfort zone and experience an adventure at sea that we’ve seen, excite and challenge them.
“Out on the sea, young people form a small community and working together, they develop the life skills, confidence and self-esteem needed to see beyond their horizon and realise their true potential.
“The young people will take on a number of tasks including, hauling ropes, operating the winches and helming. Under supervision, they also learn to prepare and cook all the meals below deck in the galley kitchen.
“We typically set sail from our base in Portsmouth – and travelling to the boat often forms part of the initial experience. However, we’re happy to discuss potentially sailing to other ports nationwide for group-organised trips.”
Funding is available in most areas of the UK, so get in touch to find out if you or your school/youth group qualifies.
