Discover the France and the Channel Islands on this French Coast Explorer voyage.

You will learn the fundamental aspects of sailing whilst working towards your RYA Start Yachting and RYA Competent Crew qualification. By the end of the voyage you will have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.

Day 1 will include a safety briefing and meet and greet before beginning heading out of the Solent. You will then begin to learn basic sailing techniques and experience man over board practice.

You will make your way across the English Channel heading for Le Havre with possible stops in St Malo and the Channel Islands before heading back to Portsmouth.

Over the following days you will build your sailing knowledge whilst having fun and making friends. You will be involved with all aspects of sailing the Ketch from looking after the boat to cooking and cleaning.

Whilst this voyage is open to all abilities, it is the perfect stepping stone for those who have sailed the South Coast and are now looking for something further afield.

There is a possibility you could be recommended to the Trust by the Skipper to come back and volunteer as a Watch Assistant or Watch Leader for future Tall Ships voyages.

Whilst every effort will be made to deliver the above voyage content sometimes, due to weather and crew’s ability, the content may need to change. Please see below for our full Conditions of Booking.
