Jim Prendergast Please tell us a bit about yourself I’m a professional sailor of 15 years’ experience. I’m particularly interested in training to make seafaring safe and accessible, I believe it can be a positive life changing experience. Most of my best days have been at sea and I like be involved in helping others experience this. I have run a sea school, been a coast guard officer, a round the world yacht racer and a delivery skipper. Please tell us a bit about your role at Tall Ships I skipper the voyages. I sail the Cat, the ketch but especially the challenger yachts. What has been your most memorable moment at Tall Ships? Too many to mention, Dartmouth approach at dawn straight from Portsmouth was memorable. The wind was from the North West and we had a through the night powerful, flat, fun sail. The guys had been amazing and I knew we were going to have the best week ever. What is one thing you think people should know about Tall Ships? Its for everyone, on a boat everyone can be amazing in some way. Please describe your job in 3 words Safety / Teacher / amazement deliverer (ok that’s 4) If you were famous, what would you be famous for? I would have a tv cooking show. The studio would be at 45 degrees tilt. Every recipe would involve running on deck to sort out a problem like what’s the 3 greatest biscuits ever.
