St John Fisher Catholic High School join us from Peterborough on Challenger 2 for a 4-night voyage from Portsmouth. Thanks to Cross Keys Homes who have supported this journey.

Day 1

Monday, 17 June

It all started in the morning when we took a long and tiring journey to Portsmouth Harbour from Peterborough. For most of the time we stayed in the car however halfway, we decided to stop and visit a take a break. After that, we then continued our journey. It was a lengthy ride however it was all worth it as the boat ride was joyful and pleasing this was because we were involved in many scenarios which involved helping work around the boat. I enjoyed the participation in putting up the sail as everyone was involved and we worked together as a team. Another vital moment in today’s journey was the food as I played a big role in it [slicing the chicken] the day was packed with many enjoyable moments and I am excited to do something different tomorrow.

Day 3

Wednesday 19 June

Today although we woke up late we were still tired form the previous day. The snoring from the other bunks didn’t help either. We had a filling breakfast and set off from Poole to Yarmouth. The wind was on our side today and we were able to put up all our sails (the Yankee, The Staysail. And even the main.) Even though putting up all the sails was really exciting, but it was a lot of hard work pulling lot of ropes and (or halliards) a lot of us have sore hands from sweating so many ropes. Our skipper (Amy) was ecstatic as we reached a record of 12.6 knots! We also practice safety procedures doing man overboard and getting to meet Kenny THE man overboard. Once again a lot of ropes and winching! Robert who was being the man overboard was enjoying being lifted out of the water and as he said it was “relaxing for your back”. To end our day we sailed into Yarmouth port and had dinner ending day 3.
