Torbay/Plymouth Young Carers join us for a 2-night voyage from Falmouth to Plymouth.
Day 1

Todays WOTD: Debacle
Before we started our journey today, we did some safety checks such as: Learning about how to use a life jacket and what ways you can use to ‘Save a life’ for yourself and for others and we also learned on how to prepare yourself on when the boat is in motion. For example: how to wear Salopettes and the Jackets. Today on our journey from Falmouth to Fowey, at around 11 in the morning. We had set up the sails called the Yankee Sail and the Main Sail with the Reefs. Furthermore, into the day, we started with the motor towards the wind and then we put the sails up and started zig zagging across the English Channel. From there on our group was put into separate positions around the Boat to make sure nothing decided to go wrong and kept sailed along the way.
In Addition to the day, we finally arrived at Fowey and ported on a Mooring Buoy. Once we had all settled in, we had started to make a prep on dinner, once we had finished prepping the dinner we had all gathered up for a conversation, we discussed things we want to learn or improve on and things we can bring to the team. After the friendly chat we started cooking the dinner and sorting the table. We all were eating dinner, it was such a great time we all was laughing, getting along with one another and enjoying the food, we then cleaned up and started playing some card games.
What would I say to my parents?

Day 2
Friday, 20 September
This morning, we woke at 8 to go and visit the small town of Fowey. We started off with some of us having showers some of the girls washed our hair via the sink, or you could pay for a 2-minute shower for a pound. After that, we then treated ourselves to some pasties and cakes, one of the pasties were unfortunately not up to par despite that we still ate them. There was a special offer on the cakes in the shop next door, which was a pound for the cakes, this was a thrilling find. Following this we headed back to the challenger by the water taxi to prepare to set sail. After exiting the harbour, we prepared for a main sail hoist which went extremely well and filled us with the confidence to raise the Yankee three and storm sail. After some slow sailing we decided to spice things up with a racing change of the storm sail to the staysail. To do this we had to have people in the snake pit, someone on the foredeck, people at the mast, on the sheets and finally people sat on the deck to catch and flake the stormsail as it came down. First, we hanked on the staysail and then dropped the stormsail while unhanking to leave room to hoist the new sail. Due to the sail change it meant we could gain some speed straight towards cawsand bay. Upon arriving we got ready to do the best sail drops in tall ship history, with a little of sues help we were able to get the main flaked onto the boom. Two of the team went over to the bow to drop the anchor, to do this we used the snubber to protect the anchor from moving. We used the forward buttons to help drop this anchor went down 30 meters down. Following from that we then added an anchor ball and connected a light to the mast. To finish off a fun and successful day. We collectively began to prepare the last supper. This consisted off creamy mash and juicy thick sausages. This has left us feeling full, tired and ready for bed!!
