For many young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds, financial barriers, limited opportunities, and the lack of clear pathways, prevent them from accessing the exciting and challenging world of ocean racing. We believe it’s crucial to break down these barriers and give every young person a chance to thrive and enjoy this incredible sport.
Our Ocean Racing and Fastnet Project has been developed to make race training more accessible to young people from all walks of life, promoting a more diverse and inclusive future for the sport, and ultimately, giving them a chance to compete in the prestigious Fastnet Race.
We need your help – the cost to take a young person through our ocean racing pathway, and into the 2025 Fastnet Race is £5,000 each. The young people we support simply cannot afford this, and therefore, risk missing out on this opportunity of a lifetime.

Young people who have completed our Empowerment or Leadership Voyages now have the opportunity to further their journey with us through our newly developed ocean racing pathway. This exciting new programme offers a chance to compete in RORC Rolex Fastnet Race.
Participants will engage in a series of intensive race training sessions and weekends, honing their competitive sailing skills while building resilience, confidence and other essential life skills.
For some, this pathway will also opens doors to thrilling career opportunities in the maritime industry and the growing blue economy.
TSYT takes on the Rolex Fastnet Race every other year, giving a select group of young people on the Ocean Racing Pathway the chance to compete in one of sailing’s most esteemed global events.
The 2025 race will be historic, marking its 100th anniversary. Starting from Cowes on July 26, 2025, and finishing in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin, France, this 695-mile challenge offers an unparalleled opportunity for our young people to make their mark in the world of ocean racing.
