Please tell us a bit about yourself

I’m a big gym goer. I’ve been training for over 10 years, originally starting to strengthen my back, loose some weight and to help de-stress. I love it. It’s my time to focus on myself. Plus, I love food and am quite partial to a cocktail so it allows me to indulge :)

Away from the gym, my family, friends and amazing partner are really important to me, so I spend as much time as I can with them. If there’s any time left I love going to the movies, traveling and singing really really badly in the shower :)

Please tell us a bit about your role at Tall Ships

I originally joined nearly 11 years ago as Sales Manager when we diversified the fleet and purchased the Challengers. With the arrival of Richard my role has evolved significantly taking on the additional responsibilities of developing the voyage programme, marketing and fundraising. There’s always a lot going on! Fortunately I work with some great colleagues so somehow we get things done :)

What has been your most memorable moment at Tall Ships?

I’ve had lots of standout moments involving the young people we work with and how we help give them direction. Just one was recently when I met a young man with Down’s Syndrome who had just finished a voyage and was being collected by his Mum. When asked if he wanted to come back, he smiled and immediately said ‘yes’. The look of his Mum’s face of happiness was just beautiful. That’s why I come to work.

What is one thing you think people should know about Tall Ships?

Over 80% of the young people we take to sea are disadvantaged or disabled.
