Entry One

Today was an experience like no other. Let’s start from the very beginning.

It all started at 8:30 in the morning when we were nervously stood outside to board the school bus. We all posed for a picture of our starting journey in our red and new jackets to represent our school proudly. We sang our way to Portsmouth and finally arrived to our boat. Challenger no.3. We soon settled in and were introduced to the cabin crew who took us around the safety tour. After many hours of safety talks we finally set of to the Isle of Wight. As we navigated our way there we learnt many skills to start off. We took turns on stirring and preparing for get off and learnt new skills such as teamwork. After a rest and a beautiful view, we got to park the boat which was really challenging as we had to communicate with each other. After we successfully parked our boat we got ready to set off and explore a little. Sitting together for dinner, we laughed and stuffed our faces with fish and chips. It was well deserved.

Entry Two

This morning, when we woke up, we got ready and ate breakfast. Then we went up the deck to prepare the boat for sailing to go to Lymington.

After we learnt how to do different types of knots, clove hitch, round turn and 2 half hitches and a reef knot and the figure of 8. We also tacked across the ship many times.

When we finally arrived in Lymington, we got the ship ready to park. Also we split into two groups, one of them did the cooking for dinner and the other half tidied the deck.

Entry Three

Today is day 3 and us three boys Muhammad, Zain and Jozef had a lot of fun. Today we started off with breakfast duty, it may sound boring but it is a very good way of building team working skills. After our breakfast we set up the ship ready for sailing which consisted of unzipping the storm sail which was very difficult, but with the help of the magnificent crew we got the job done.

We then got to explore the beautiful town of Lymington which had the best real dairy ice cream/ milkshakes. After that we got back to the boat and got ready to sail but fortunately the weather changed our plans and we got to chill and then tackle a tough, but fun challenge which was rope climb. 10/10 people attempted the challenge and completed it.

This evening we docked up in East Cowes and started preparing dinner while the other group was cleaning the deck. For dinner we had sweet and sour chicken with noodles and it was delicious. After dinner the boys from the other group started to clean the plates, pots and cutlery. They took half an hour as they were messing about. After what seemed like an eternity, they were pushed aside and someone else started to do the two pots for them.

Entry Three

Today was an interesting day.  It was weird but fun at the same time. We had a diesel leak which led us to end up in a different and smaller boat yet we still managed to enjoy it and have a fantastic day. Me and my friends got the chance to explore the shopping world in Portsmouth and look around all the shops and we were all amazed by the amount of popular brand shops that are here and by the amount of tourists that visit Portsmouth.

For dinner we had the well-known fish and chips that everybody loves. After stuffing our faces with our lovely fish and chips we all got changed into our pyjamas and snuggled up together before we headed off to sleep. All in all it was an amazing day despite all the things that went wrong.
