Captain Scott Tall Ship Voyage
08/06/2010
< Back to News/PR

We still have places available onboard Stavros S Niarchos for the SSN 433 voyage from Cardiff to Dartmouth 14th - 19th June during which the ship will be the centrepiece of the Captain Scott Society’s centenary re-enactment of Captain Scott’s  departure for the British Antarctic Expedition in 1910.

Stavros S Niarchos will arrive in Cardiff on Friday 11th June after a group of 14-15 year olds will sail the brig from Brixham. The ship will then sail from Cardiff on 15th June as the centrepiece of the re-enactment of Captain Scott’s Antarctic expedition in 1910. People will line the dockside with their flags and whistles to say farewell to the ship in style as she sails out of the harbour, 100 years since Captain Scott’s voyage, accompanied by a flotilla of boats and ceremonial tunes from the Royal Navy Band.

If you are between 18 and 75 years old, you can be a part of this extraordinary event. Prices start at £399.00 and include all food, accommodation, safety equipment and instruction. This is the opportunity of a lifetime and will be an historic moment for the ship and its crew so call our friendly reservations team on 023 9283 2055 or email info@tallships.org to book your place.

If you can’t join the voyage, the spectacle can be viewed from the dockside and everyone is welcome to join in with the celebrations. There will also be the opportunity to have a guided tour around Stavros S Niarchos from 11am – 5pm on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th June and a sponsored mast climb will take place on both days at 5pm. To get involved, visit the ship at Britannia Quay and tour places will be offered on a first come first served basis.
