OUR TALL SHIP - STAVROS S NIARCHOS

Our Tall Ship is run by 6 permanent salaried crew – the Captain, Chief Officer, Second Officer, Bosun, Engineer and Cook.

There are also up to 11 experienced volunteers: Third Officer, 3 Watch Leaders, Assistant Engineer, First Aid-Purser, Second cook, Cook’s assistant, 2 Deckhands and a Youth Mentor (a professionally qualified teacher or youth worker) on youth voyages or an additional Deckhand or Liaison Officer on adult voyages.

Then there are the 48 voyage crew (you!). Two supernumary/training berths make up our registered complement of 67 berths.

THE CHALLENGER’S CREW

Each Tall Ships Challenger takes a crew of up to 18.  Each yacht is run by up to 5 experienced, skilled and knowledgeable sea farers - a Skipper, Mate, 2 Watch Leaders and  a Youth Mentor (a professionally qualified teacher or youth worker) on voyages for those aged 14-15 and 16-25. Some of these positions are held by Salaried Crew and some by experienced Volunteers. From time to time, a berth might also be used for Training or PR purposes.

Then there are up to 12 Voyage Crew (that’s you!).

TALL SHIPS CAT

TheTall Ships Cat can take up to 15 crew members (on day sails).  She is run by 2 experienced, skilled and knowledgeable sea farers - a Skipper, Mate and  a Youth Mentor (a professionally qualified teacher or youth worker) on voyages for those aged 12-13, 14-15 and 16-25. Some of these positions are held by Salaried Crew and some by experienced Volunteers. From time to time, a berth might also be used for Training or PR purposes.

Then there are up to 8 Voyage Crew.

We are constantly looking to recruit more Tall Ships Volunteer Crew and at the end of the voyage you may be lucky enough to be recommended by the Captain or Skipper to join this select band of our supporters. The Captain or Skipper will tell you more about this process when you get on board.
